Attention Loudoun County Teachers!
A Program Exclusively for You!

Classroom Library Booster Program
Now in its 4th year!

LCPS logo_edited.png

Our Fall 2024 Booster Library is now open to pre-registered teachers for book selection and will remain open through September 17!  Check your email for selection instructions.

Books can be the wings of a child's imagination, and making a variety of books available to them can help their imaginations soar! Because of the generosity of our donors, The Bavis Foundation maintains a large collection of new and gently used childrens' books that we will happily donate to elementary school teachers (K-5) in Loudoun County and surrounding areas who wish to expand their classroom libraries.  Just tell us what you need! Simply register for the program, answer a few questions about your class, and request access to our library.  If you qualify, we will email you a link to our current library inventory from which you may select books up to 20 books that you would like to receive. We will then package and deliver the books to your classroom. And they are yours to keep - no strings attached! It's that simple!

NUMBER OF BOOKS DONATED TO OUR TEACHERS AND THEIR STUDENTS TO DATE:  >6,000!

Changing Lives, Book By Book

The Bavis Foundation, in conjunction with The African Library Project and its partners, works to promote literacy and build libraries in remote locations of Africa, bringing the lifelong gift of books to children who otherwise would not have access.  So far, we have donated more than 5000 books to build libraries in Ghana, Swaziland, and Uganda.

Operation Paperback
 Initiative

Operation Paperback logo.png

The Bavis Foundation has partnered with Operation Paperback, a national, non-profit organization whose volunteers collect new and gently-used books and redistribute them to active American troops, veterans, and their families both here at home and overseas.  In addition, Operation Paperback provides books to wounded warrior programs and veterans' hospitals located within the United States as well as USO centers at US Airport transit points. To date, The Bavis Foundation has contributed more than 400 books directly to these dedicated Americans and their families.

Enzo's Reading Room

Reading to Our Furry Friends? Yes Please!

Are you looking for a fun and meaningful activity that benefits both your child and animals in need? Consider taking a trip to your local animal shelter and have your child read to the adorable residents.

Yes, you heard it right!  Reading to shelter animals is a heartwarming and rewarding experience that brings joy and comfort to both the children and the animals.  Children can practice their reading skills in a non-judgemental environment as well as develop empathy and compassion for animals.  The animals benefit from increased socialization and a reduction in stress which can help them become more adoptable and increase their chances of finding their forever homes.  And who wouldn't want to spend an afternoon with a great book and lots of purrs and tail wags!

The Bavis Foundation is proud to be the primary sponsor of Hart for Animals' Reading Buddies Program which strives to cultivate a love of reading among children and provide much needed socialization for its adoptable pets.  For more information about this wonderful program, visit Hart's Facebook page  here.

Together We Can

An Intiative of the Residents of Esplanade at Azario

Together We Can was formed by the residents of Esplanade at Azario, located in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, to help improve our local community through charitable contributions and volunteer efforts.  By combining the talents and resources of our residents, our goal is to serve the needs of  vulnerable populations in Sarasota and Manatee counties, amplify our impact, and build social connections in our Azario community. Ok, so this in not really an initiative, but we love our pets and want to make sure that we take care of their furry friends too!  Meet Enzo and Brooks.  They are the official mascots of The Bavis Foundation, and they work hard to uplift their communities too!  Click on their pictures below to learn more about their favorite causes :)

Meet Enzo!  He loves afternoon naps, cozy blankets, and sitting in the middle of everything!  His favorite books are Pete the Cat and Garfield. His favorite charity is HART for Animals in McHenry, MD from where he was lovingly adopted in 2019. He has been featured in several of HART's social media posts, so he is a bit of a celebrity there, but he tries not to let his fame go to his head!  To learn more about HART for Animals, visit
